Another Rockpile - Decker Avenue

This might be hard to make out considering the fog. And you know sometimes it's hard to photograph these things. But this is a nice size cairn that looks more like the burial mound type. This one is similar to another one. But this one does not appear to be of the sunken type.

 

Rockpile in the Fog

This is located in the same area as the previous wall off of Decker Avenue. It's one of three possible burial cairns, but one of many cairns located in the same area.

 

Remain of Old Spring - Decker Avenue

Remains of old spring located just off the first road to the left going up Decker Avenue. There is also some very nice old tree's besides a possible midden area (garbage hole). This could possibly be of Native American Origin. But having said this, I need to explore the area more throughly because it could also be the remains of an old logging camp for all I know.

 

Native American Wall - Part 2

This is part of the wall that was washed out. With at least three floods ripping thru the valley in 1889, 1936 and 1977. Parts of the wall look like it was used as a strainer. This area is just below the ridge line (abt 2500') and is known to have quite a few lightning strikes.

This a closeup of the highest section of the wall.

There is a lot of debris and tree's growing up thru sections of the wall.

This shot is just past the halfway mark in the wall. Still high but not quite as high as the middle section.

Native American Wall - Part 1

For the next couple of days I will be showing this very interesting wall just off of Decker Avenue (below the Transmitter). It's believed to be Native American in origin. It runs around 1/4 of a mile at least. Besides a well shaft (which I am working on getting better pictures of since the ones I have aren't that great).

The sunken mound I showed on November 24-th is a stone's throw away from the beginning of this wall. There are also quite a few more cairns of different styles (which I will be visiting in the future). The standing stone and sister structure I showed on November 27-th are also in the same area.

I know this image is hard to make it, but what I am trying to show is the wall snaking it's way up the ravine.

As you make your way up the ravine the wall slowly begins to get slightly higher.

This is the section that is sort of in the middle and is quite higher than the beginning and end of the wall.

Cairn off of Decker

I just love looking at this boulder in the woods, and the cairn on top, just adds to its beauty. This is located just across the road from the first left hand turn going up. You can just see it in the clearing.

Nice look at the side, you just can't miss this in the woods.

This possible small niche is directly behind the boulder.

This bent tree (which I showed a closeup of earlier) is very near the cairn.

Possible Native American Indian Grave - Mountain Road

This is an example of a single burial type. Note the use of a light colored quartz. Most likely the body or bones tied up in a bundle. This is just above the parking lot as you start heading up the trail on the left hand side.
